AI-first service

Security reviews and patching for Laravel applications

AI has made it cheaper to write code and cheaper to attack it. We find the weaknesses in your Laravel application before someone else does, help you fix them, then keep every dependency patched month after month.

Application review

Access control, authentication, input handling, file uploads, payments and APIs, checked against the OWASP standards.

Secrets and configuration

Keys, environment files, debug settings, CORS, cookies and headers. Small settings that cause big incidents.

Server hardening

SSH, firewalls, TLS, PHP and database configuration, backups and access on Forge, AWS or your own servers.

Ongoing patching

Laravel, PHP and package updates every month, with emergency patches when a critical CVE lands.

Why security matters more in the AI era

AI coding tools mean more code gets written, faster, by people who have not always read it. The same tools help attackers scan for weaknesses at scale. The result is simple: the gap between a mistake reaching production and someone finding it is getting shorter.

Most of the incidents we are asked to help with do not involve clever attacks. They start with something ordinary, such as an API endpoint that forgets to check who owns a record, a package that has not been updated for two years, or a .env file that ended up somewhere public.

What a security review covers

We review your application in three layers, because a weakness in any one of them is enough.

  1. The code. We read the code that handles sign-in, permissions, payments, uploads and personal data, and test it on a staging copy. This is where we find broken access control, which has been the most common serious risk in the OWASP Top 10 since 2021.
  2. The dependencies. A typical Laravel application pulls in well over a hundred Composer and npm packages. We check each one for known vulnerabilities, abandoned maintainers and packages that should not be there at all.
  3. The platform. Servers, TLS, headers, cookies, backups, logs and who has access to what. Whether you run on Laravel Forge, Laravel Cloud, AWS or your own hardware, we check the configuration against current good practice.

What you get

A report written for two audiences. The summary explains the overall risk, what an attacker could actually do and what to fix first, in language a board or an insurer can follow. The technical section gives your developers the evidence, the affected code and a recommended fix for each finding.

When your fixes are in, we retest every finding at no extra cost and update the report, so you have a clean record to show customers and auditors.

Patching plans

Finding problems once is not enough. New vulnerabilities are published every week, and an application that was secure in January can be exposed by March without a single line of your code changing.

A patching plan keeps you current:

  • Monthly updates to Laravel, PHP packages and front-end dependencies, tested and deployed through staging.
  • Advisory monitoring for every package you use, including Laravel's own security releases.
  • Emergency patches for critical issues within one working day.
  • Framework support dates tracked for you, so you plan Laravel upgrades before your version stops getting security fixes. Our version support tracker shows the current dates.
  • A monthly report listing what changed, what is outstanding and anything that needs a decision.

Patching plans start at £149 per application per month and work well alongside our infrastructure management for the servers themselves.

Who it is for

  • SaaS companies whose enterprise customers send security questionnaires.
  • Businesses handling personal or payment data that need to show they take UK GDPR seriously.
  • Teams shipping AI-written code who want an independent check. If the app was built mostly with AI tools, start with a vibe code review, which covers security alongside data, performance and deployment.

Scope

What's included

  • Threat model of your application, its users and its data
  • Review of authentication, sessions, password reset and two-factor flows
  • Authorisation checks on every route, policy, job and API endpoint
  • Input validation, mass assignment, SQL and command injection, XSS and CSRF
  • File upload, storage and signed URL handling
  • Payment, webhook and third-party integration security
  • Dependency audit with composer audit and npm audit, plus a check for abandoned packages
  • Secrets review across code, configuration, CI and Git history
  • Server, TLS, header and cookie configuration review
  • A ranked report with proof of each finding and a recommended fix
  • A free retest once your fixes are in

Not included

  • Social engineering and physical security testing
  • Formal penetration test certificates for compliance schemes. We can recommend a CREST-accredited partner and prepare you for the test.

Process

How it works

  1. Scope

We agree what is in scope, from one application to the servers behind it, and the dates when testing can happen.

  2. Review

We combine code review, automated scanning and manual testing on a staging copy, so production is never at risk.

  3. Report

You get a ranked report with evidence, business impact and a fix for every finding, plus a call to talk it through.

  4. Fix and retest

Your team or ours fixes the issues. We retest at no extra cost and confirm what is closed.

  5. Keep it patched

An optional monthly plan keeps Laravel, PHP and your packages current, with emergency patching for critical issues.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a penetration test?

A penetration test usually attacks a live system from the outside with no access to the code. Our review combines that outside view with a full read of the source code, which finds problems that black-box testing misses, such as a missing ownership check on one API endpoint. If you need a formal penetration test certificate for a customer or a compliance scheme, we will prepare you for it and can recommend an accredited partner.

Will testing affect our live site?

No. We test against a staging copy wherever possible and only run read-only checks against production, at times you agree in advance.

How much does a security review cost?

Reviews start at £795 for a single application. The price depends on the number of user roles, integrations and servers in scope, and we fix it before we start. Monthly patching plans start at £149 per application. All prices exclude VAT.

What does a patching plan include?

Each month we update Laravel, PHP packages and front-end dependencies, run your test suite, deploy to staging for you to check and then release to production. We monitor security advisories for every package you use, and patch critical issues within one working day. You get a short report each month.

Do you work with apps that were not built on Laravel?

Our deepest expertise is Laravel and PHP, which is where we do the full code-level review. For other stacks we can review the infrastructure, configuration and dependencies, and we will tell you on the first call if another specialist would be a better fit.

Can you help with Cyber Essentials or customer security questionnaires?

Yes. The report gives you the evidence most questionnaires ask for, and we can help you answer the technical questions for Cyber Essentials and similar schemes. We do not certify you ourselves.
