SIA Control Room: a white-label operations platform for security companies

The brief

The founders of SIA Control Room had a clear idea: a single cloud platform that security companies could use to run their operations, from managing officers and sites to paying contractors. They wanted a partner involved from the very start, to help them avoid the mistakes that sink many first-time SaaS products.

Starting with a prototype

Once the initial concept was agreed, we built a basic prototype that the founders could put in front of real users. Their feedback shaped what we built next, and kept the focus on features that mattered to the people using the system every day, rather than features that only looked good on a roadmap.

What we built

The finished platform is a cloud portal where security companies manage their whole operation, with a mobile app that lets officers use the system from their phones.

• Three types of user, each with their own dashboard and permissions.
• White-label branding, so security companies can present the platform as their own.
• Custom client domains for each security company.
• A Laravel API serving both the web platform and the mobile app.
• A mobile app built with React for officers in the field.
• Stripe Connect, which pays contractors directly into their bank accounts, with subscriptions handled by Laravel Cashier.

Technology

The platform was built on Laravel 6 LTS with MySQL, deployed with Laravel Forge onto DigitalOcean servers. Stripe handles both subscription billing and contractor payouts through Stripe Connect.

The outcome

SIA Control Room went from a concept to a commercially viable SaaS product, and the relationship has continued for several years.
