Coachr: embedded Laravel developers for a growing fitness SaaS

The challenge

Coachr already had an established product with many paying users. The problem was capacity: the existing team had become too small to support the product and build the features it needed to grow, and hiring a large in-house team was not affordable.

Our approach

Instead of handing the work to a separate agency team, Coachr added Larasoft developers to its own team. Our developers worked in Coachr's Slack, followed its processes and picked up issues alongside the existing developers, so problems were resolved quickly and nobody had to manage a hand-off between two teams.

This is how our hire Laravel developers service still works today, with the addition of AI-assisted delivery and senior review on every change.

What we built

Together, the team rewrote and extended the platform as Coachr V2:

• Workout plans that coaches can build and assign.
• Video lessons for clients.
• Nutrition plans with recipes.
• Lead generation and tracking for coaches growing their business.
• Per-seat subscription packages, billed through Stripe.
• A responsive interface that works on every device.
• An admin area built with Laravel Nova.

Technology

Coachr V2 is a Laravel application with a Vue.js single-page front end, a MySQL database and a Laravel Nova admin panel. Subscriptions run through Stripe using Laravel Cashier, and servers are managed with Laravel Forge on DigitalOcean.

The outcome

Coachr V2 launched successfully, and Coachr continued to work with Larasoft developers as part of its team.
